BDA National Championships

Nottingham September 2019
Pink Champagne Breast Cancer Survivors Dragon Boat team travelled to Holme Pier Point in Nottingham, the National Water Sports Centre for the UK. It was the first time we had attended the British Dragonboat Association National Championships, and it was great to have a Breast Cancer team category included for the very first time in the nationals.
We had beautiful weather at this amazing venue on the first day of racing, and went  straight into a 200m race. We competed in 7 races all before lunch, our best time of the day an impressive 1.04 followed by an 1.06 in the Ladies 14.
Later on on day one we had the 2000 metre race, a distance  we relish now. We set off first and held our place well, some great close turns. A great race, a perfect end to a great days racing with a impressive time of 12 33.
Sunday could not of been more different the rain when we left the hotel was torrential.
Today was 500m day but we started with a 200m Breast Cancer Survivors  race against a strong Pink Royal team, made up from 5 UK BC teams, a great race that Pink Champagne won in 1.06. We then raced them again in the 500m which again we won in a great time of 2.44.
We then raced another four 500m races  with the rain now getting worse it started to get very unpleasant. We continued with some great times in the 500m.
A very successful weekend on and off the water, made new friends with members of the Pink Royals, raced some impressive times, a great team effort , and special thanks to our supporters who travelled with us and helped in many ways to make this a successful event for us.
