On 14th May 2022 the team took on a Marathon paddle of 26.2 miles. This date was chosen to coincide with the well known Moon walk which took place in London on the same day.
Due to tides the team needed to start their paddle at 9am, from their base at Hengistbury Head Outdoor Centre. They paddled in 6 mile laps down the River Stour towards Christchurch before returning to their base.
The team dressed in pink with added sparkle, hats and decorations and they received a lot of support on the day from the crowds who were out enjoying the sun. They also had help and support on the river from other river users, and some generous donations from people at their stall on the quay.
Allen one of the teams helms very sportingly let his hair and beard be cut for a £1 a snip.
The idea of the paddle was to raise much needed funds to keep the team afloat. They have not been able to hold their main fund raising festival for the past two years and it is unlikely that they will be able to for the forthcoming few years. Money from sponsorship is still coming in.
Thank you to everyone who supported this event, there is still time to donate if you would like to, just go to the home page on the website where you will see a button the donate.
